Hey everyone, sorry it's been so long, unfortunately I have been experiencing some technical difficulties! Will update properly as soon as I can, and fill you in on the missing days!
Hi everyone! Sorry it has been so long but my phone wouldn't allow me to post things for a few days! I have to say that I suffered a bout of homesickness at the weekend but I am well and truly over it as I have now got lots of things to do to keep me busy! Such as the Grimm fairy tales play I am planning! I have chosen the stories the hare and the hedgehog and the cat and the mouse! These are easy small stories that I feel the children would be eager to do as it contains animals they know of! I have written a script for both of these tales which I feel is easy enough for them to comprehend. Cruell the English teacher is going to translate it for them and help them learn lines so that I can focus on directing and creating the costumes! This is a very exciting prospect for me! Yesterday I attenuated my first Thai funeral, it was for one of the teachers brothers who died if a heart attack at 37 years old! This teacher has been very unfortunate as all three of her siblings are now dead! The funeral was not at all like I expected as everyone in attendance was happy and enjoying themselves! The service was a Buddhist one and was performed inside a temple with speakers around the outside, as this is we're most people were seated - in little marquees - as the temple was very small! Afterward everyone was fed a delicious meal of spicy pork sauce, a red Thai chicken curry, and some shrimp fried spicy glass noodles! It was actually a very nice atmosphere! In the afternoon Cruell asked me If I could teach them how to make Christmas cards so we had a very fun arts and crafts lesson!
Today I taught my class how to make snowflakes out of paper! I have never seen such happy kids! Then we made Christmas cards using the snowflakes as decorations! I don't think they understood because they copied down my template exactly instead of addressing their cards personally! at the end they all copied down the instructions and were sneaking out paper so they could do it again! They must not get much unlined paper just for fun usage so I turned a blind eye to the sneaking! I have begun making placards for the play because khru well says that they won't be able to learn the lines! So this weekend I will be making costumes for the kids in khun yuam! Salahae wants me to go anyway, although I am not sure why! In the evening I came home to find nuan roasting a rat over a fire! It was soo gross!
